Basic Training Classes
Puppy Basics (puppies 10 weeks to 5 months of age) – This class will get you off on the right foot with your new family member. Topics will include potty training, biting/chewing, socialization, relationship-building, and body handling. By the end of this six-week session your puppy should have a good start at basic life skills including sit, down, come, and wait. We’ll also introduce some fun tricks and games you can play with your puppy!
Advanced Puppy (puppies 10 weeks to 5 months of age) – For the puppy who is off to a great start, this class will build on the basics. Puppies will continue to hone their skills and work through greater levels of distraction. Emphasis is placed on important skills such as walking nicely on leash, come, and stay. This is a great class for anyone looking to share their life with a well-behaved pet or if you are interested in moving on to competitive obedience or agility one day.
Adult Basics (dogs 6 months of age and up) – Have you adopted a new family member or recently realized how much you and your adult dog would benefit from training? This class will help to build your relationship while teaching basic life skills like sit, down, come, wait, and walking nicely on leash. We will address common issues such as house training, barking, anxiety, and jumping on people.
Advanced Adult (dogs 6 months of age and up) – This class will build on the basics for your adult dog and take your bond to the next level. Emphasis is placed on important skills such as walking nicely on leash, come, and stay while introducing more distractions. This is a must-have class for anyone looking to do more with their dog and to ensure that he has excellent manners in public.
Trick Training 101 (ages 4 months and up) – Your dog will be the life of the party! Teaching tricks is a great way to build a bond with your dog and build their confidence in new situations. We will discuss how dogs learn and give you the tools to continue building your dog’s trick portfolio long after this class is done. A variety of tricks will be covered including basics such as shake, spin, roll over, sit pretty, and bow. We’ll also explore the fun world of shaping and the complex behaviors you can get your dog to perform by piecing behaviors together. Tools needed: Clicker
Prerequisites: Dogs should have a good grasp of the basics and be well-behaved in a group environment.
